![]() Dietrich is a good friend. Dietrich is Downsy's cousin, and another Girratalope. He's a little better put together than Downsy, but he's missing an arm and a leg, which is something he doesn't like to talk about, since mean folk like to call him Lefty. Although he acts sort of dour, and can often be seen moping about, he's very smart, and loves to play with machines. He made himself a new leg in his workshop, and often invents new gadgets for Downsy and all the rest of their strange circle of pals. Dietrich's biggest wish in the world used to be to have his own motorcycle, but after Downsy met Crumbly Bear, he decided that maybe that dream was a little silly, and took apart what he'd made by then to build Crumbly a wheelchair for his birthday, so he could come play with them. Dietrich is a good friend. |

![]() Crumbly Bear is Downsy's bestest friend in the whole wide world. When he was born, he wasn't put together so well, but that's ok. He doesn't mind. Crumbly bear is normally pretty quiet, and he can't move around so much or he gets very sleepy, but since he got his wheelchair he's been able to travel around a little more with his friends. Sometimes he writes his friends letters, or maybe gives them hugs, but then he has to take a nap. It's alright though, they understand. At the end of the day, Crumbly Bear will turn to Downsy and say, "I know I'm not put together so good, and a lot of people might be sad about that. But I'm not. Because it means I got to meet you Downsy. Because we're bestest friends forever." Downsy will sort of smile blankly because he doesn't really understand what Crumbly means by all that, but deep down, they both know it to be true. |
![]() Jupiter is very small and very shy and has a very big nose, which people say isn't very becoming of a girl. Because of that, Jupiter used to be very reclusive and scared of most people, and tended to shy away from everyone. Downsy and his friends saw her one day looking sad and lonely, and decided this was not acceptable! Together, they helped Jupiter learn to warm up to people again, and she has been one of their best friends ever since. Around Downsy and his pals, she knows she doesn't have to feel awkward or afraid ever again. Jupiter has a magical hat and knows some magic tricks of her own, which she loves to share with the rest of the gang. When Jupiter is around, every day is strange, and wondrous, and unpredictable, and everything seems to get a subtle dose of the fantastic. |

![]() Who or what is the mysterious Berbalanger? Nobody knows for sure, but Jupiter insists they're distant relatives. A bit hyperactive and easily distracted, he comes and goes at random in and out of Downsy's group of friends, but is always a joy when he's around. He might only have one ear, but it's a big one, so he insists he can still hear OK, and nobody really seems to know if that thing on his forehead is a third eye, or just part of his pattern. If the Berbalanger knows, he sure ain't telling. Sometimes, Downsy and his friends worry about Berbalanger since they've never seen his house or his family, and they really hope he has a safe, warm place to call home at night, but when he's invited to stay over, at a nice warm bed by the fireplace, he shakes his head and scampers off. Berbalanger, you are indeed an enigma. |
